In the face of rising electricity costs in Pakistan, commercial and non-profit organizations are increasingly turning to sustainable energy. At Pro Green Energy Solar Solutions, we recently had the privilege of commissioning a massive 210kW On-Grid Solar System for Muslim Hands in Sodhara, Wazirabad.
This project wasn’t just about installing panels; it was about delivering energy independence, overcoming complex site challenges, and eliminating a staggering PKR 1.05 Million monthly electricity bill. Here is an inside look at how we executed this project in just 3 weeks.
Project Overview
Client: Muslim Hands
Location: Sodhara, Wazirabad, Pakistan
System Capacity: 210kW (On-Grid with Net Metering)
Project Timeline: 3 Weeks (Planning to Commissioning
Daily Energy Generation: ~800-900 Units
Estimated ROI: Within 1 Year
The Challenge: High Costs and Complex Infrastructure
Before our intervention, the facility was consuming approximately 13,000 units of electricity per month, resulting in an average monthly bill of PKR 1.05 Million.
The goal was clear: cover 100% of their consumption and bring the electricity bill down to zero.
However, the site presented several technical hurdles:
Uneven Roof Levels & Waterproofing: The roof had varying heights (30–35 feet) and was covered in delicate waterproofing tiles and a coal layer beneath the concrete, making standard drilling risky.
Wiring & Accessibility: Existing wiring was tangled and scattered, and there was no direct path for new cabling from the outside.
Environmental Factors: The installation took place during the monsoon season, battling frequent rain, high humidity, and heat.
The Solution: Engineering Excellence
Our team at Pro Green Energy tackled these challenges with precision engineering and smart logistics.
1. Smart Structure & Material Handling
Due to the building’s height and restricted stair access, we utilized cranes to safely lift heavy materials to the rooftop. We used BH SMITH aluminum L2 structures for the majority of the installation and reinforced iron girder (Mughal Steel) elevated structures in specific areas to handle wind pressure effectively.
2. Custom Civil & Electrical Work
Underground Wiring: Since external wiring wasn’t feasible, we excavated a safe underground route for the cabling, ensuring a neat and protected electrical infrastructure.
Roof Rectification: We carefully removed the coal layer where necessary and used special roof drilling machines for the tiles to ensure waterproofing integrity was maintained.
Rapid Installation: Despite the rain, our mechanical team installed 131 L2 structures in just 4 days.
Technical Specifications
We used top-tier components to ensure maximum efficiency and durability:
Solar Panels: LONGi Solar Hi-MO 7 (Bi-facial, N-Type) – 615W Capacity.
Inverters: K-Star On-Grid Inverters (Two 50kW units, One 80kW unit).
Wiring: Copper-gate solar cables (High-conductivity & weather-resistant).
Protection: Customized double-door Distribution Boards (DBs) with AC/DC separation and lightning arrestors for full safety.
Results: Zero Bills & Green Energy
The system is now fully operational, delivering exceptional results:
Monthly Production: ~25,000 to 27,000 units.
Bill Reduction: From PKR 1.05 Million to Zero.
Grid Contribution: The system produces more than the facility consumes (27k generated vs. 13k consumed), allowing the surplus to be fed back to the grid via Net Metering.
Conclusion
The Muslim Hands project stands as a testament to Pro Green Energy’s commitment to quality, safety, and speed. Despite weather challenges and complex civil works, we delivered a high-performance solar solution that pays for itself in just one year.
